About Us
At New Toronto Cooperative Nursery School, we believe children learn best through exploration, imagination and observation. We provide a warm, nurturing and engaging environment where children can build confidence, develop independence and discover a love of learning. Through meaningful play-based experiences, children are encouraged to follow their interests, make choices, build friendships and learn at their own individual pace.
Our Philosophy
We believe every child is curious, capable and unique! Children learn best when they feel safe, supported and free to explore the world around them. Our philosophy is rooted in play, choice and discovery. We follow each child’s interests and individual pace, encouraging independence, creativity, confidence and meaningful connections with others. We believe learning should feel natural, engaging and fun, giving children the space to explore, experiment, make mistakes and discover what excites them.
Our Approach
We create a thoughtful balance of structure and flexibility, offering children engaging experiences that support their physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
Our days include music and movement, creative arts, hands-on experiments, stories, puzzles, outdoor play, and independent and guided play.
Most importantly, our program is responsive to the children in our classroom. Our routine is flexible and guided by each child’s interests and individual pace, giving children the freedom to engage in experiences that interest them and explore other play and learning opportunities.
